Oct 11 Super Heroes of Breast Cancer celebrated at Friends in Pink luncheon
There wasn’t a shortage of Super Heroes at the Friends in Pink annual luncheon on Oct. 7.
From breast cancer survivors to those still fighting the disease, from health-care providers to care givers, and from volunteers to donors, it was an upbeat, fun event that celebrated the Super Heroes of Breast Cancer.
“This was one of our most successful luncheons to date, and I believe it’s because it was a celebration,” said Friends in Pink President Cheryl Norman Caldwell. “The atmosphere was one of a fun party. And while we never forget and always honor those that have died of breast cancer, this year was a celebration showing appreciation to those in our midst that support breast cancer patients. I cannot express my appreciation enough to all those that came to the luncheon, volunteered towards its success or sponsored the event. Because of all those people, we can continue our mission of helping to save the lives of those on the Treasure Coast who have breast cancer.”
The main speaker of the event was Dr. Gene DeLucia, D.O., who spoke on the subject of oxidated stress and how it relates to health and disease.
Guests dined on a wonderful lunch menu created by PGA Culinary Chef Josh Cobbs.
Local breast cancer survivor Pat Alley shared her survival story following up with a pink champagne toast. Guests enjoyed a selfie photo booth, silent auction, raffles and more. Musical entertainment was provided by the very popular Jazzy Boys and Mia Battalini.
Sponsors of the event included: John B. Fasano, M.D., Martin Health Systems, Indian River Medical Center, Rick Carroll Insurance Agency, Treasure Coast Lexus, Carroll Collins Bail Bonds, Bowman Consulting, Better Living & Marketplace Magazine, Dr. Dwight L. Dawkins, Deb Doherty, P.A., Keller Williams Treasure Coast, Renew The Breast Care Boutique, Jewelry Design Studio, Regency DKI, Windsor Imaging, Mr. Mark Palumbi, Peter Kakoyannis, Bobby’s Pizza and anonymous donors.
